News
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Never fails to entertain us, that rotten violent country.
An amazingly dim-witted comment. For decades here I’ve seen oceans, mountains, deserts, people of all cultures, and endless novelty etc.
You literally only read the most sensationalist headlines while being oblivious to the goodwill dividend. With one sentence you informed me how much you actually don’t know this country.
Is Canada rotten for its disappearing of natives by police? Is Canada rotten for the Somalia Affair, when two official Canadian peacemakers beat a teenager to death? Canada lobbied asbestos to not be labeled hazardous to the UN — what non-zero amount of deaths should we tally there? The Alberta Eugenics Board — was that rotten? The expulsion of the Acadians?
How about forcibly taking children from First Nations and distributing them to foster homes? Gee, what an awful, frozen, “rotten” winter hellscape.
A Canadian man was just arrested for sexually abusing over 100 American girls — by your logic, Canada is dangerously violent and rotten.
Their comment is how America is viewed by the outside world. You seem offended by that and try to distract with offensive things in their country, but we should be offended that this is how people view America. But it is not their fault and it is completely valid.
Our beautiful countryside does not make up our change the fact that we are the most violent country in the world. And that we are known for that. Be offended that is our legacy and try to change it internally. But don't blame and shame people who view our flawed country accurately.
Countries with a higher homicide rate than the U.S., I’ll name just a few.
Russia, Uruguay, Panama, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Ecuador..
Why is your name based on a Republican?
Why does my username, an inside-joke amongst fellow liberal friends, offend you so much? How is it that you’re this easily affected?
Because it sounds like some alt-right shit, and seeing your comments in here blindly defending America and whatabouting other countries...
Like that doesn't sound like a liberal poster at all.
Interesting. You’ve further demonstrated your anger and lack of critical thinking.
Hope things get better for you.
Still you're a rotten violent country.
Is this really necessary? I hate the governments of several countries (my own most of all). I would never call an entire country violent and rotten because of it.
I know, that's not what i meant even though it stands out like that. It was an overgeneralization on my part. I apologize. I stand with people against all rotten governments, and against rotten people. It's sad to constantly hear these news about what used to be a great country and not be affected by it, even if these things can happen in many other country including Canada.
It was already evident you’re operating on jealousy and emotion as opposed to reason and logic — no need to inform us further.
We’re an amazing country. It’s a shame you could never actually experience it and instead write about it online like some Russian bot.
Oh i agree geographically it's a beautiful land, I've seen a lot of the US, from the east to the west, north and south, deserts and mountains... And the people are wonderful (if they're not fascist racist idiotic magas). But with all the shootings that keep happening, especially the school shootings, ICE, and not to forget your government's spread of terrorism and war all over the globe, a pedo president, it's hard not to regard your country as a violent and rotten place. I can go on and on but it's pointless.
Whereas in reality, you lost all credibility many comments ago.
I can't really argue the violent country part, but calling a shooting entertaining is pretty fucked up regardless. Even if the country is fucked up, they're still people being murdered.
