He's not denying that germs exist, or at least neither the article nor the person the article is citing calling him a germ theory denialist say as much. He's a believer in functional medicine, which the author from the publication Science Based Medicine equates to germ theory denialism because it is essentially rebranding Alternative Medicine as a physician based approach which highglights how smart and cool they are for embracing it. Which is why it has had a lot of success.

Incidentally Mark A. Crislip used to do good podcasts but then he just started pretending reading an article verbatim was a podcast.
