Medieval peasant nation. What even is the material gain chuds have in denying germ theory? CHUDs deny climate change for comfort reasons, they want to consume in peace without thinking about the consequences and who’s actually paying for it, but what’s comfortable about denying germ theory?

There are a lot of material reason for a doctor to embrace functional medicine. Functional medicine is essentially alternative medicine mixed with some of the worst aspects of for profit conventional medicine. So a doctor will order you a bunch of unnecessary tests and scans and then give you a diagnosis for a fake disease and prescribe you stuff that doesn't work (And which he likely sells), all resulting in thousands upon thousands of easy dollars for the doctor.
