How exactly does being an epidemiologist make u an authority on guns and gun ownership
It's based off public health studies where they make the case that more guns equals more deaths by homicide and suicide. That leads public health advocates to argue that guns need to be banned or more heavily regulated.
You could say the same things about cars. The pollution, micro plastics, and traffic deaths are a good reason to ban cars and make public transit the primary mode of transportation (which I want) but they don't do that..the car lobby is far more powerful than the gun lobby (surprising right?)
To be fair this is better, because now there's no worry about the person in question committing the appeal to authority fallacy
Also this just whataboutauthorityism
It's like a new flavor of asking a CEO about physics.
They hated authority so much that are now sourcing professional Information from non-authority figures on the topic.
