Would Alex Pretti and Renee Good still be alive if I voted? No, Trump won every single swing state. Would Alex Pretti and Renee Good still be alive if Kamala called for ceasefire and stop sending weapons to Israel? Maybe, she could've won a couple of swing states

I talked to my friend from highschool, who is gay, about the democrats being responsible for creating and persisting the systems that are oppressing people, including ICE. His response was that he’s going to VOTE for whoever will let him live. Which, yeah I get. But it was hard not to question how many lives of brown people worldwide he was willing to throw under the bus.

To be fair I think he’s slowly radicalizing anyways

CW doomer, maybe? As a gay guy, my impression is that most American gays, particularly white gays, would throw a million Arabs under the bus if it meant they got 10 cents off their monthly transit pass. Who knows, maybe this is why I’m single for life.

To take things to an extreme, I would say that most Americans aren’t opposed to Adolf Hitler, they are opposed to an Adolf Hitler who considers them part of the untermenschen. If the literal, actual Adolf Hitler came back from the dead as a feminist and queer rights crusader, it would only be a matter of time before he became POTUS.

Yeah, I definitely feel the same way as a gay POC - but unfortunately I've even seen it in non-white but whitepassing gays.

It really does feel sometimes that there's a correlation between people's proximity to whiteness and their ability to overlook barbaric acts against others. And there's often very little incentive to question the brainworms that proximity to whiteness brings, since they directly benefit from them.

So once white gay men became more tolerated in the west, they flipped the switch and became white devils like the majority of the rest.

Yeah I mean I don’t need to speak super hard to this, but gay men (especially white gay men) are really super willing to adopt reactionary sentiment. I’ve heard absurd misogynistic shit from gay men, and had one of the most frustrating arguments of my life with a white gay guy about Dave Chappell being “right” about trans folk, and you better believe he used his position as a gay man to assume authority in this argument.

Yeah some of the most racist shit I’ve ever heard came out the mouths of white gay men. It’s infuriating to the point I don’t even know what to say. It got so tiring that I dropped out of the game once I was out of college, which, I hate to admit, was a long ass time ago.

Yeah I’m missing out but I’m just done with playing the game of waiting for whatever reactionary surprise is lying in wait. My life is good enough and I’m lucky enough to have a stable job with a good union flying long haul flights. Incidentally this is why I haven’t taken the advice of others and checked out the NGPA, because I remember what the gay club (wasn’t called that, but you get the point) in college was like (Ernst Röhm convention).

The question to ask people like him is; How hard do you see the democrats fighting to keep you alive?

[–] Omegamint@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I mean, exactly. You really trust these people to protect you? They’re already rolling over on trans folk, and you better believe they’ll ditch you too.

You mean the pro slavery party that only stopped being the pro slavery party because the other party got more racist doesn't operate with a single guiding principle outside of political expediency?

Afaik abolishing of antigay laws in USA hinges on court precedent, just like abortion rights did. And we all know how dems defended that one.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Respect_for_Marriage_Act Brandon passed this after getting caught lacking WRT codifying Roe v. Wade.
