My favorites have been mostly the chaos marine stories as Ive found they have some of the most interesting characters.
The nightlords omnibus is incredible, all the characters in it are memorable, it has great battles, including naval battles, and a lot of dark humor throughout. The dialogue between characters Is also believable written.
The ahriman series and the fabius bile series are also a lot of fun. Both have awesome characters (of which where should be more models of!).
For 1 off books, lords of silence was definitely up there in the rankings for me, as well as lords of the night.
Finally for a not chaos book, The infinite and the Divine is a riot of a comedy about Trazyn the infinite and his arch rival.
