Flippanarchy
Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.
Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.
This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

What "papers" are they even talking about? Like, if you are a US born citizen who doesn't happen to have a passport, what do they expect you to have?
Nothing. They expect nothing so they can take you.
And if you have something, no you don't, its fake, get in the van.
Yep

Carry around your birth certificate, SS card, Passport, Drivers license. But you happen to be of a dark complexion, and they gotta meet quota, so all that paperwork gets mysteriously misplaced.
Doesn't matter. ice has claimed passports and real id are fake and taken people into custody anyway.
This is what's the most frustrating to the people saying people should comply. Whenever they get told a Real ID does not prove citizenship they act surprised. Most people couldn't comply even if they wanted to.
An enhanced ID does prove citizenship though so that might be the easiest thing to carry besides a passport card if you can get one.
FYI Enhanced ID is provided only by certain states.
Real ID is valid…I think. It’s supposed to be anyway. Probably won’t stop them from getting violent with you if they feel like it though.
Already posted elsewhere in this thread, but no. https://reason.com/2025/12/31/dhs-says-real-id-which-dhs-certifies-is-too-unreliable-to-confirm-u-s-citizenship/
Damn that’s crazy. The more I learn about Real ID the more pointless it starts to seem. Wasn’t easy to get one either!
Not from the US but doesn't the driver license have the status, ID cards from other countries have or is this a myth? I was told that even blind people have a driver license that says "not allowed to drive" just to identity themselves
No and also no. Decent number of people don't have any ID and most don't have one that proves citizenship.
But do people use their driver license to identity themselves at all (not necessarily to prove citizenship) or is this a myth as well?
Yes it's common because most people drive and they're also used to buy alcohol, plane tickets, etc. but they don't prove citizenship. Some states allow undocumented people to apply for them, I believe.
But there's still a decent number who don't have one, usually poorer people. Most of the uses for a photo ID involve spending money on luxuries.
No. You can get state IDs in a lot of states, but they don't prove US citizenship.
I've seen high school exchange students get their driver's licenses here, for example
A real ID doesn't prove citizenship is the problem. You would need a passport or enhanced ID that most people don't have.
If you're brown I'd imagine a one way plane ticket.
Birth certificate, maybe?
