Immediately. They prioritize law enforcement types in their recruiting, and a little harmless bigotry is exactly what their looking for. AND they get a hefty singing bonus, which is higher for trained cops.

And they'll consider his casual racism to be an advantage. It's like the famous exchange in Alice's Restaurant, where he tries to get out of the draft by acting crazy:

And I waked in and sat down and they gave me a piece of paper, said, "Kid, see the psychiatrist, room 604."

And I went up there, I said, "Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies.
