You had to say crispy... now all I can think of is pulling out my planer, taking a slice, and tossing it into the deep fryer just to see what forbidden flavors exist.

Have you ever microwaved a piece of wood to force dry? I have and man - what a smell... I can remember it even now.

Not impossible, but I use bursts of about 30s max, it doesn't even get overly hot. Otherwise, something even scarier can happen - it may case harden 😮. Jokes aside, I've only done it for very specific occasions, perhaps a few times in my whole life. I'd invest in a kiln or just buy dry lumber to start with.
