Are there goggles / glasses that could help against this? Asking for a friend
I posted this image earlier, but the eyewear they wore in Hong Kong was because of tear gas. Not sure how they would hold up against 'less-lethal' bullets.

Yes, but I'm not sure what specific rating (e.g. some ANSI rating) would be required.
Hopefully medical science is close to being able to restore vision in such cases. Would be a good area of research given how fucking often this seems to be happening.
He had glass and plastic lodged in his eye, they pulled a two inch piece of plastic out of his face, not much to do about a blunt force destruction of the eye like that I'm afraid.
The problem is people don't realize how corrupt the system is, they've never seen the true face of the courts, they are not neutral arbiters of the law, but an arm of the police state, long since given unquestioned power over ordinary people.
I am not saying don't protests, but do so in a way that recognizes they can, and want to, shoot you in face. That the courts will let them get away with it, and that they will accept fabrications of the police to justify hurting you despite knowing they are lies. If you lied under oath you could go to prison for decades for perjury. They can do so with impunity.
I was thinking more in the sense of eye transplants or functional prosthetics (e.g. some sort of camera). While this is obviously extremely complex and beyond our present technical capabilities, it does seem to be within the realm of feasibility.
Agreed that the rot of corruption runs very deep. I've been keenly aware of this for a few decades, which has certainly shaped my cynicism towards society and general "doomer" attitude. While it might very well be "different" this time, much of it is the same shit that's been going on forever.
For what it's worth, I don't do protests because it doesn't pass my risk assessment. Play to your strengths, not the strengths of your adversary.
