I don’t understand that practice, is it a consolation prize for having to fire people? A reward for not getting laid off?
Investors have very big brains and are never wrong, so when a company drops staff they say it's good to see the company losing dead weight.
Us stupid small-brained normies see a company struggling to have an original idea shaving staff to stay afloat and say "that doesn't look good".
Then the big-brain investor loses money and posts on social media about how you can't win them all. The joke is that us normies also lost money; the investor didnt lose their money, they lost yours, because they were managing your pension fund.
It's a reward for slashing payroll costs and it's only paid to the C suite usually.
Bonus are based on how much profit your division has made. By firing people you lower expenses which increases the profit percentage even though the income in the same.
Except firing the people that actually generate profit is short-sighted and stupid. Firing a few useless c-suite nob-ends makes much more sense.
Then again, who in their right mind would want to work for ubisoft these days anyway?
Short-sighted is fine. They will just move to another company and do it again.
But manglement doesn't want to make sense. They just want to show they are furthering the companies goal.
