Uuuuh because you saved money for the game, LOOKED for it in stores until you found it and then prayed that you got a good one because you never actually knew, and then if the game was good, it was very very precious so when this means either your saves are corrupt or the disc scratched or something worse

Me when I was a kid after I inserted a scratched disc.

I mean, come on, it's a red vortex with spinning cubes and dreadful wind ambiance.

Pretty sure a lot of kids were scared by the PS2's RSOD.

Fair enough. I can see how weeks worth of savings going up in smoke would greatly upset a child.
