With respect, that just sounds like they're accelerating towards the dystopia, and things will get a lot worse before OpenAI collapses.
i agree on both points. but do you think it would be better if their existence is prolonged somehow?
i mean, if you don't think this development is good news, what sort of news about openai would you think is?
unless you're actually using their services, i don't see how them being at their "last resort" is anything other than good news. (and if you are using their services, maybe this encourages you to stop? so, still: good news)
To me, it'd be good news if they closed up shop completely. Any situation where they're still doing what they're doing doesn't sound good to me.
That said, I understand why you think this is good news, and it sounds like we both want the same thing to happen. We're just coming at this from different perspectives.
