They are imageboards. Just because their layout is slicker than imageboards used to look like 25 years ago doesn't make them not imageboards

Tell that to all the text that comprises most content in every board. Calling it more of an imageboard than sites that devote almost-all of every page to images is backwards. 4chan is a forum or BBS-minus-dial-in with delusions of grandeur.

I love it for what its for, but "imageboard" really ain't it, and has never been what it was known for. Might as well preach the glory/legitimacy of Pepe NFTs as that narrative.
