Feels like there's no solidarity in the US. Partly because many people are barely holding on paying for food, shelter, and health. But even among the wealthier people I know (mostly tech workers), they don't seem to care about or understand politics, or anything beyond "did you see the new iPhone?"

i mean tech workers have some of the highest guaranteed pay in the us. that's why.

Beyond just financial concerns, there is just an overwhelming dread to it all that not everyone can handle. Especially when the person is a parent. A lot of people I know feel like they're going to have a mental breakdown if they closely follow politics. It's too much stress on top of the stress of work and parenting.

It's all by design.
