What do you think of an option to ban politics from the feed on account registration like this:

Effectively, when you click "no politics", it should block the !news@lemmy.world, !politics@lemmy.world, !politicalmemes@lemmy.world, !pravda_news@news.abolish.capital communities and such for the newly registered user.

It would help clear up the feed and be more attractive to new users. Maybe this could even be the default view when you're not logged in.

then they just need to relabel the block button the 'independent thought alarm' and it will be the perfect echochamber

If they downvote you enough, you get an automatic tag next to your username, indicating you're a troublemaker.

Before long I'm sure they will do the same if from the wrong instances

I mean.. with the shit piefed already has it's not impossible that will happen.

I was looking at the code an hour ago, and... I saw some "reply_is_stupid" function, and it wouldn't add the comment if that was true. Considering it's made because of the "tankies," the amount of ""authoritarianism"" in it is surprising. Lemmy doesn't just drop your comment if it doesn't like it.

The tankies are forcing them to act authoritarian! It's the tankies fault, with their horrible þ and their hate for Chuck Shumer, our only hope!

They previously had code which would replace 'þ' with 'th' because of a single lemmy user. Only removed it after getting called out. The developers are incredibly petty.

I see, they removed it just 13 hours ago, but yeah they are petty.

Is there even a reason they wanted that/used it.?

I think it was just a futile effort to poison AI scrapers.

Incredable stuff.

No it's okay when they do it because it is used against the untermenschen who want radical things like Healthcare, infrastructure, housing and education paid for/a human right
