Yeah, western European nations literally colonized the vast majority of land surface of the planet, including almost the entirety of the Americas and Africa, and almost the entirety of Asia, together with the entirety of Australia and most of Oceania.

What's your point?

[–] Tja@programming.dev 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

"Most of Europe" only if you to it by area. Europe has 30+ countries, less than half have been colonizers. If you count Russia, France UK, Belgium, Netherlands Germany, Spain and Portugal, they are surely most of area, not most of the countries.

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That's also the vast majority of the population of Europe, a much more significant metric than number of countries. You're also forgetting Italy's activities in North Africa, Austria and Hungary's activities during the Austrohungarian empire...

Still it's not half of countries.

Also, how many of them keep colonies? Basically only Russia, unless you count the small islands France and UK keep (with local support).

China is still occupying Tibet and genociding Uygurs. So it's not only the US, bad countries have always and will continue to do the same thing.

Can't believe libs like you will still claim that there's a genocide in Xinjiang after seeing what a real genocide looks like in Gaza. The reeducation camps are closed since 2022 and you guys will still do genocide amelioration of real genocides by calling the Xinjiang problems a genocide. You clearly don't give a fuck about the Uyghur and you're weaponizing them, otherwise you would have read the news for the past 3 years and learned that the reeducation camps (again, not genocide) are closed.

As for Tibet: Tibet was literally a feudal kingdom where 80% of the population were literal starving peasants bound to their lord's land by law. China liberated the region, and there is no meaningful opposition to the Chinese government in Tibet, the only claims of "occupation" come from the Tibet Government in Exile, which is literally identical to a hypothetical in which Marie Antoinette fleed France during the French revolution and their heirs claimed sovereignty over the country.

There is no limit of number of genocides on earth at any given time.

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

There is no limit to hypothetical number of genocides, but declaring a genocide without evidence while other actual genocides are happening is a minimization of actual genocides.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Denying a genocide is genocide denial.

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Denying a real genocide is genocide denial. The Wikipedia article itself was renamed when it became undeniable that it's not a genocide, and the UN report doesn't say the word "genocide" anywhere. You're literally making it up, and you haven't read a single thing about the topic other than Reddit and Lemmy comments, fucking concern troll

[–] Tja@programming.dev 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, because the UN report will call out genocide by one of the security council members.

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com -1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

"UN is Khamas... I mean Gyna!!"

Just admit you didnt know the reeducation camps have been closed for over 3 years and you're concern trolling

[–] Tja@programming.dev 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

"please don't criticize daddy CCP, or I won't get my allowance"

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com -1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Go somewhere else with your concern trolling on a topic you clearly haven't informed yourself about.

"don't believe your lying eyes, the party has spoken"

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

"The UN is the Communist Party of China!!!!!!!!!"
