Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

European countries would need to actually defend themselves, because for a lot of Americans the thought of actually going to war with other white people is much more upsetting than it is to go to war with brown people.
The EU is not capable of defending Greenland from an American invasion. They lack the kind of expeditionary military needed to do it. The best they could do is send large quantities of weapons that could be used by insurgents against the invaders.
But really, there's not much even that could do. Greenland has a population of 56,000, even if the EU was willing to arm an insurgency. The US has a population of 330,000,000. Insurgencies can pull off some real underdog miracles, but there's a limit. Ukraine, despite being outnumbered, can resist Russia through wits and bravery. But this would be like Vatican City trying to resist the Russian military.
Hell, we imagine Greenland as this vast territory, one that would be as difficult to subjugate as Afghanistan. But look at how Greenland is actually populated. Greenland isn't really a country in the traditional sense. It's basically five small towns.. Seriously, five towns, with populations of 24,000, 11,000, 9,000, 6,000, and 6,000. Occupy those five towns and you now control 99% of Greenland's population. The countryside is virtually empty except for some scattered mining camps. This isn't a territory that can support a large rural insurgency like Vietnam or Afghanistan.
I feel like the only deterrent the USA respects is a full global nuclear war. If the US doesn't respect sovereignty we might see a rise in nuclear armaments because it's the only thing that'll make them back down.
I'm afraid European countries would not defend themselves militarily because they simply would not stand a chance. US is capable of moving far greater army to Greenland than Europe is.
Europe would respond with economic sanctions and god knows how much of their economy they would be willing to sacrifice over Greenland. Maybe a lot, maybe they would tell Denmark to suck it up.
Just get some of Ukraine's sea drone's and wipe out the US fleet around Greenland.
Naval warfare is forever changed, but only Russia has felt it so far.
Keep all identifying flags off it so it could be any country sending them.
There's too much area to track where they all could be originating coming from.
edit: Also if I was Denmark/Greenland I 'd be getting some from Ukraine pronto so they could be deployed nearby to start with when a warship breaches their territorial waters or airspace.
Maduro should have hired you as his military advisor. US fleet would be at the bottom of the ocean now and he would still be in power.
