As a Russian: Russia is not open-minded at all, where did you get that idea? Same as in the US, there is a part of population that doesn't know/understand shit about diversity, human rights, etc, but will be eager to tell you that you are not like them (and also live wrong, dress wrong, etc)
Thanks. What about Poland, if you know? I see many anti-immigration right-wingers who are Polish on Reddit but it's Reddit of all platforms and I probably shouldn't trust it.
If you are white, Poland is ok. Visibly queer people will probably hear some slurs (especially outside major cities). Chance for a real violent hate crime is low though, because in Poland violent crimes are generally very low.
Just stay away from Polish language internet, it's minefield of fascism.
They hate basically all immigrants, but non catholic the most. It's funny because of how many of them live abroad in Germany, the UK and so on, just for financial reasons.
