Fitgirl installers always crash on wine for me. I like to get those repacks from cs.rin where you can just unzip and play.
I run the fitgirl installer thru proton by adding the installer as a "non-steam game" and then deleting it from my library after it installs. Way better than wine. It still crashes or freezes occasionally, but I've found dodi packs sometimes have better luck with my method.
