Overwhelmingly, the thing that estranges leftists from society is being minoritized in various ways, and beyond that it is a matter of education. "Intelligence" has very little to do with it and viewing other people as mindless is inaccurate, personally unhealthy, and counterproductive to socialist organizing.
Right, like as much as I want to mock fascism with such a simplistic worldview. This cannot be the case. Elites, masses and rebels and so on.
Thanks for regularly reassuring me things aren’t as bleak as they seem. I may sound like a brick wall but I really appreciate it.
I just need to remember that I don't deal with the shit you deal with, and even for a well-meaning person (as I believe you are), circumstances like that make it really tough to not hate everything.
I feel like there must be some way for me (or anyone else attempting to intervene) to approach this conversation more effectively, but I can't think of anything. Do you have any ideas for this?
