Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

In a post on social media, CI Games’ CEO and the head of the studio, Marek Tyminski, reverted to his rhetoric about games needing to avoid political agendas. He stated in clear terms that Lords of the Fallen 2, slated for 2026, will feature ‘attractive female characters’ wearing ‘revealing outfits’.

"Many of you asked why the game initially had body type A/B. Hexworks started early 2020 as an autonomous studio owned by CI Games. Early on, political correctness and filtering meant not every decision reached me on time. I got a lot more involved from late 2024 and now act as Head of Studio alongside my CEO role. Things are very different now and the studio got fully integrated. We reverted a lot of wrong decisions and will continue improving. Lords II is being built on real player feedback, and it’s crystal clear in the last two trailers."

The comments under that post came from curious fans, and one user asked, ‘I’m gonna buy the game, definitely. Will there be attractive female characters, and will there be revealing outfits and armor for them?’ Marek simply responded, ‘Yes’.

When another fan pointed out that games should be fun and not ‘politically correct’, Tyminski wrote, ‘Correct’.

Early in 2025, Tyminski appeared on social media rebelling against forced DEI in games. He backed up a statement made by CI Games’ marketing director, which suggests that the studio wouldn’t shoehorn DEI elements into their games just to tick that political agenda checkbox.

So I guess that game's not gonna be played then lol. What a pos CEO

It gets tiresome to see folks have their "gamers are pig people and deserve no respect" cake, then try to eat it by being critics of individual releases.
