Russia still hasn't taken Pokrovsk and the professional core to the Russian military has been obliterated by brutal attrition. All Putin has accomplished is to prove to the world Russia is no longer a military superpower.

This is the best moment Russia will get, the longer they fight the more they will lose, and the losses will be increasingly catastrophic for Russia.

“Pokrovsk is largely lost. Ukrainian positions still remain on the northern outskirts of the city; however, most of Pokrovsk is under the occupiers' control. The entire part of the settlement below the railway line that 'cuts' the city in half is, according to UP, held by the Russians. Information available to Ukrainska Pravda indicates that the line of contact runs almost along the northern edge of the city. The General Staff map for the Pokrovsk front is at least a month behind reality.”

[Ukrainska Pravda] notes that Pokrovsk became the first city in this war that Ukraine lost not on the ground, but in the air. Around August this year, the Russians established drone control over the airspace of Pokrovsk, including through one of their most effective UAV units, Rubikon. This made logistics and troop rotation on the positions impossible.
