This article’s zionist headline, ‘Mamdani Response to Protest Inflames Tensions With Jewish Leaders’
This quote,
A third hand account about Mamdani from a famous zionist
Just fucking stop with this shit
While I agree with you (he himself hasn't done anything blatant here), his spokeswoman saying he would like to hear more about the pitch is part of an ongoing issue I see with him: he feels the need to treat these people as legitimate and go out of his way to respect them, even when they're calling him the reincarnation of hitler and inventing new racial stereotypes to apply to him.
The Trump meeting is similar to this, but he lucked out there because Trump is a chaotic gremlin and wouldn't even let him come up with a diplomatic answer. Cutting Mamdani off before he could start and saying "it's fine, you can call me a fascist" definitely made him look much better than any answer I could realistically seem him giving.
It seems counterproductive to play nice like this with people who have always hated you and will always hate you instead of just ignoring them. Moreover, it continues to legitimize these people (hitlerites put into power by their acceptability to wealthy donors and lobby groups) as leaders of the Jewish community. In addition, it only gives ammunition to outlets like the NYT.
that's my biggest gripe with him thus far. he's not even mayor yet and he's already compromising on his campaign promises. at least the trump meeting involved a sitting president. what does this one get him? what does it get the people of new york? he's always softening his rhetoric and it doesn't give me confidence he won't soften his actions too
I mean, he's a lib isn't he? A socdem lib, but still a lib, "hearing everyone out and treating everyone with civility" is the cornerstone of liberal behaviour.
I mean, yes, fundamentally most of my problems with him stem from this fact.
