One of my favorite games of all time is Tales from the Borderlands and honestly I am completely fine with it being 2 buttons cause the story just brings you in.
I also like Risk of Rain 2 which before it had controller support I had to figure out how to add layers to my controller by pressing 1 button to shift my others... Games are just a fun medium to play with how people interwct with entertainment.
Literally ARGs have no buttons and use webpages and all kinds of insane gameplay mechanics. All are valid in their weirdness.
