It seems that basically anyone paying attention these days can see that the mode of production is about to see a qualitative shift from fossil capitalism to renewable-energy based initial stage socialism.
The writing is on the wall. State planning and renewable energy projects are not simply nice to have anymore, they are becoming increasingly necessary to simply keep up.
Unfortunately, state planning doesn't necessarily mean socialism unless the proletariat have control over the state. Still, it's one less argument against communism, which I'll take.
True. It is kind of presumptuous of me to assume that the transition away from fossil fuels will lead to socialism, but the superstructure is built upon the base. It is not as if capitalism is a super-historial formation that can survive under any technological condition.
