Things are written to be so much more interesting per square second of entertainment by the way. In my opinion it's worth analysis how what I watch (which is admittedly not much) has every frame contributing to the narrative. It's seldom panning shots of the beach or people sighing with ennui unless it's right before they shake hands for a million dollar deal or something.
Therefore, if a woman's on screen I always see her doing something that illustrates the character's personality or advances the plot just like every other character or element of the scene. They'd have to go out of their way to make the woman seem dull or ordinary. She would be the only thing in the shot behaving that way. The only interesting critique I've heard of Princess Peach, for example, is that they changed her personality to be rambunctious and ready to get her hands dirty. A comparison to Princess Peach: Showtime! described her as living for the glitz and glam and being graceful as she floats around saving the day. It therefore shows in stark relief how juvenile the image of masculinity is because feminism is when woman does stuff. Why the fuck would anyone write a character without agency or personality? They just wouldn't fit. Characters are interesting in relation to the others around them and how they make use of that which they control. Peach stick out as if she was drawn in crayon on top of charcoal if she were simply locked in a jail cell alone.
