Too cold for outdoor DIY so back to my microcontrollers. I'm dicking around with presence detectors and failing miserably at getting anything solid working. HomeAssistant makes it fun as hell though, minimal programming required, and I spend quite a bit of time on the train now just reading up about signal protocols for shits and giggles apparently.
Did you know that UART serial doesn't need a clock wire to synchronize communication in the way that I2C does? Huh, did you? Did you?
I didn't know this, but I'll now sleep soundly tonight knowing this! :D
What will the presence detectors be for? Switching on and off lights?
(So apparently with UART, you just set a "baud rate" which tells both devices what speed to operate at, which I think is cheating. Long live the holy clock wire!)
And yep -- literally, just want it to switch on my hallway lights, as well as turn on some internal cameras when a presence is detected inside and I'm not actually home :O
