The year is 13567. Asus has released a laptop with a new Realtek audio chipset that doesn't work on Linux.

Ugh. The issues I'm having right now with an Asus realtek chip set. Wifi, blue tooth, audio.

the wifi and bt you can probably just swap out for an intel unit like ax210 and it will just work, audio tends to be fully built in to the motherboard though so not much helping that.
