Soviet art representing the relief of the Bolsheviks that stormed the Winter Palace, knowing they succeeded in toppling the Tsarist regime and could begin building socialism in the real world. You can also see a tinge of anguish in his face, as he looks upon the oppulant living conditions of the Tsar's family. Tsarist Russia was one of the most backwards nations in Europe, with life expectancies in the 30s. This painting illustrates the complex feelings of victory, relief, and the real confrontation of just how unequal and unjust the Tsarist system truly was.

I also think there's some anguish in knowing that the path to socialism does not end with the palaces.

The knot in your stomach that the history that lays at your feet is bending to the popular will of the proletariat; realising that the energy of this moment is retained like a spring, the tension ready to burst forth as the next stage of class war is set to begin.

The golden apple (globe with a cross on top) of the Tsarist symbol in the background represents the worldly aspect of power, that now has fallen onto the soviet-revolutionary. At least that is also my interpretation.
