I can totally believe that with V**sh it's a half-assed attempt to look more manly (especially given his hair), but this seems like a crass over-generalization rooted in things that have very little to do with the people you are accusing, like

I promise that most of the "frumpy(?) nerds" aren't trying to either pull one over on you or insult you. A pretty large portion of them are probably just depressive types who are just picking the lower-maintenance option, which is consistent with them not "dressing the part" (according to whom is something their part, anyway?).

V**sh is deeply contemptible and probably also insecure about his jawline or something, this is in no manner a defense of him.
