Indeed, I'm very optimistic that this tech is being pioneered in a socialist country.

Yeah, I mean to be honest this is kinda just a complete denounceation of the American (and more accurately, capitalist.) system since the west had like a near two decades headstart (something I'm considering around stem cells were discovered, so 2005 ISH) and have done basically fuck all with it (largely due to the difficulty age reversal startups have in actually acquiring funding for their research, since it's something that ain't going to have a return for like a decade or more worth's of time.) while in comparison the Chinese didn't really start to engage in large scale ages reversal research until like, 2018/2020 ISH, and sure they would of had at least peripheral access to western research, but still, the fact they've managed to develop age reversal treatment for a species of animal that shares 93% of our DNA in less that 5/7 years is fucking way faster than what the burgerreichs scientists have managed to do in a similar timeframe.

For sure, this kind of fundamental research requires long term commitment that simply isn't possible within the framework of a market system. It's a similar problem with any technological breakthrough like fusion or using a different substrate for computer chips. The development happens on timescales that are far beyond market cycles, and they can only be achieved with sustained state funding.
