Honestly this reply makes a lot of sense; I've not read of a single pro-zionist who'd ever go to one of these things, let alone have friends who'd participate in such an event
Ya he just doesn't want to have to deal with the fall out from his parents. Probably has given up on convincing his mom and is just going to coast through the next couple of years living with her until college.
At which point if it's anything like the US, the parents will blame the college for turning him liberal.

Yeah, I know what that feels like. There's some topics where I'll just leave the room when it comes up, because the argument with my dad will be a complete waste of time and energy, and I'd rather not have my mom know I'm a genuine communist, not just an edgy social democrat who likes Soviet symbolism and winding Dad up about the Cold War.
