7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Looking for self-defense classes for my SO. Sure, it’s illegal to fight back, but I mean it mostly to minimize their attack. Also, encouraging them to do daily calisthenics. Fortunately they’ve always been athletic so it’s not a huge encouragement.
We’re not their target yet, but I’ve no doubt that soon everyone will be.
It's going to be illegal for a lot of us to even exist soon. Might as well fight back.

It's not illegal to fight back, this is literally what the second amendment is for.

If you're EXTREMELY lucky, I would say. In this climate, other ice or law enforcement are just going to kill you. Or at the very least throw you in prison, into a system where you also might just disappear. Without seeing a lawyer or your family, to another country, where you may not be a citizen or have ever lived. And possibly into their foreign prison system directly, into an evil vilainesque torture prison designed for nobody to ever leave
So, here we are right back to fighting back. Your dead or in a cage to be sent to your death anyways.

Seriously. Going down in a hail of gun fire>>>tortured to death in a foreign prison.
Assuming you survive the hellfire of bullets that will rain down on you if you try, that is.
Going for the balls and throat is always a good self defense option.
But honestly, unless you're training very regularly, the training in those classes will be forgotten once the adrenaline kicks in. For most people it needs to be committed to muscle memory to use in a panic situation.
