Whether it be electronics, automobiles or medical equipment, the manufacturers should not be able to horde “oem” parts, render your stuff useless if you repair it with aftermarket parts, or hide schematics of their products.

OBDII tools are cheap, can get em for $5 from ali express

And OBDII is only a thing because laws mandated that all vehicles needed to comply with the same communication requirements.

More and more vehicle mfgs are putting critical repair and diagnostic information outside the regulated OBDII protocols, and refusing to allow others access to that protocol.
