Government suppression of free speech violates the 1st amendment. So being against the constitution makes it illegal.

I wasn't aware that ABC was the government. They may be acting like Trump's personal toadies, but I am pretty sure they are a private organization.

ABC acted after the chair of the FCC threatened ABC. The unconstitutional act was the FCC threat as a reaction to protected speech.

Trump is literally using the government agencies to threaten “free speech “ that is blatantly unconstitutional

The article says ABC suspended the show voluntarily applauded by government. Shitty? Sure. Illegal? Not clearly.

“Voluntarily“ after the FCC threatened them. You know the FCC is part of the government, don’t you?

[–] Slatlun@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And where in that article is that information?

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Earlier in the day, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr called Kimmel’s comments “truly sick” and said his agency has a strong case for holding Kimmel, ABC and network parent Walt Disney Co. accountable for spreading misinformation. He said the comic appeared to be making an intentional effort to mislead the public that Kirk’s assassin was a right-wing Trump supporter.

Is every censorship action that the FCC takes illegal under the first amendment? If not, how is this one clearly a deviation from their normal censorship?

Now you’re just trolling. You were also trolling before, but now you are too.

Mmhmm, trolling is when someone asks you questions that have answers that make you uncomfortable. I'll update my dictionary.
