The hospital a nurse friend of mine was working at started treating nurses like servers at a restaurant: if it "wasn't busy" they'd cancel their shift last minute or cut them and tell them to go home. And of course they also have on call shifts. Impossible for someone to make a living wage like that if you never know how many hours you'll get, and yet they also claim so much time commitment that you'll be unable to work second jobs. Profit-driven healthcare is never going to provide best quality of care. It's pure greed.
