Is anybody on the left saying that people should sit out this election, though? I think that people who are typically apathetic about voting would actually show up to the polls when somebody like Mamdani is running; that is, somebody who is both good on the issues and is popular. Typically, the politicians who are good on the issues have such small budgets and are so marginalized that nobody knows who they are, so the voters who would support them just stay home. Mamdani managed to pull off the hat-trick of being both a Democratic Socialist and winning a Democratic primary.
And we need them to show up in other cases as well. At least vote green or some other third party.
Harm minimization does help; particularly in deep red areas. And if your in a solid blue place then go to primaries and support your local Mamdani as much as possible.
Most tankies will discourage others from doing this. Which means they keep us from moving back left.
Yes! Alternative parties need your vote! Research all the candidates. You'll probably find somebody you agree with, at least most of the time. No candidate is perfect, but I can almost always find one who I won't feel bad about voting for.
I dunno. Simply not voting is such a cop-out, and it isn't a morally defensible position. It's part of your responsibility as a citizen.
