If your phone isn't broken and still running well, why change it?
It's not getting OS updates, I'm stuck on Android 11, and the battery life isn't what it used to be. Upgrading to a new phone would give me longer battery life that I'm getting now, but my phone for the first few years would comfortably get me well into a second day, where as I feel like the pixel 10 would last a day, but how long would it last after a few years? When these phones cost £800+ (my phone cost £500) it's difficult to justify buying them.
Is your bootloader unlockable? You could try using a custom ROM with MicroG. Saves you a ton of battery life and gets you OS level vuln. updates. You'll still have chip level vulns. but it'll help the planet out a bit longer than it would if you buy a new phone sooner :p
I've no idea, it's not something I've tinkered with since my Nexus 4. I'll be honest, I just can't be bothered with flashing custom ROMs to my phone these days, I haven't got the time nor the energy. Cheers for the suggestion though :)
I've had my phone for over 6 years so I think I've probably done more than most on that front, and I'd love my next phone to last just as long which is why I'm skeptical about the battery on the Pixel 10. Seeing comments from people saying they're upgrading from their Pixel 7 because the battery life isn't great is a big red flag, that phone isn't old.
If there were a 6.0" variant of the OnePlus 13 then I think I'd probably choose that.
