Submit new emoji here.
A good submission is:
- Visually clear at a small size (120 pixel width) [This does not mean upload the small image, this means upload the source image or full size cutout but test prior.]
- Have a transparent background to the greatest degree possible. This online tool can remove many backgrounds.
- Display a clear emotion or purpose
- If including text, should be properly sized to be readable
- "Evergreen" and not something that will be irrelevant after the next news cycle
- Formatted in PNG, GIF, or SVG to make our file optimization cycles easier. If svg initially, send svg in a seperately hosted link to WhyEssEff. Same with gif, as we render them as mp4 IIRC.
- Have proposed title as the title of the post, nothing more, nothing less.
- Post body should include a suggested category and keywords.
- Max height of 3 times the width.
Rules:
- No reactionary or reactionary-adjacent expressions. The purpose of an image is what it expresses. Some clear examples for this rule:
- Allowed: Broken fasces, burning stars-and-bars, rotated Mussolini
- Disallowed: Body-shaming, Pepes, gay-shaming the enemy (e.g. those pictures of Putin and Trump that libs love to post), certain hateful wojaks (even if recontextualized)
- If you think you have touched on a grey area, see rule 7 for how to litigate this.
- ~~Nothing Vaush-related is allowed~~
- To be honest, I broke this rule, so it's pretty much moot. Just run it by me first in DMs or matrix. Vaush is a bit of a dead horse, so to speak, so they're still generally discouraged. The qualification for a viable emote referencing his existence is more a matter of execution

- No desecration of religious imagery. This includes things like burning Israeli/Saudi flag emojis. If you can modify the flags while still accurately representing countries without including said imagery, it is much preferred.
- A grey area can be argued around whether the symbol has colloquially evolved past its religious origins (one example of this that can be relatively agreed upon is the Union Jack, which is more a symbol of colonialism if anything). See rule 7 for how to litigate this.
- Nothing sexually explicit or overtly horny is allowed
- :hentai-free:
- No sectarianism in submissions. Pro-tendency content is fine, but we will not accept content degrading specific tendencies.
- No gore, no SA, no sui-bait. Nothing that could reasonably trigger a comrade.
- If you think you're touching on a grey area with a submission, message @whyesseff:matrix.org to clear it before you post.
- DISCLAIMER: Clearing does not necessarily mean that I'll add it, just that it's alright to submit and the rules will not be the barrier to its addition

Since there is near universal approval of having a true Zionist entity flag burning emote, this thread is now about whether ZPoster should be banned or not.
I vote for them being unbanned because they already have a million alts ready on standby anyways, and they're not going anywhere until Nakoichi is gone.
It's funny how the rest of Hexbear always comes around to their point of view eventually even when most people see them as a crank. It happened with the SMO and it's happening with emote.
Anyone who wants Z_poster to stay banned doesn't use the news mega lol. You can disagree with Z (I often do), but Z always has actually interesting and insightful things to say from a different perspective. Even if you never agree with Z, you're always challenged to think your own viewpoint through.
Edit: I think there are some people who demand everyone agree with a "hexbear line" or else get banned, and are opposed to letting people that see things differently stay and contribute/hash it out. It's often quite juvenile.
I agree with this. There are also many, many other users who are just as if not more hostile than Z and they don't get banned even though they may directly attack other users.
some of those other users are even moderators!
yeah, it sucks that the admin/mod/user struggle over cliqueishness hasn't really been addressed at all.
The thin mod line is strong
Well it has. By saying it wasn’t a thing
I think we need some form of c/userunion back to tackle this. Maybe some mechanism to, like, "declassify" past mod discussions for transparency? After some time ofc, to avoid wreckers/other bad actors exploiting having knowledge of mod comms.
Dialectical materialism with no dialectics
Honestly i wonder what the point of this site even having a block button is when people can just... press it and never have to see a take they disagree with again!
I didn't even realize he was banned until now, I always see his posts.
My own post started because I saw zposter was banned on the news megathread and investigated why...
Here we are nearly 500 comments later.
You did really well.
I was writing a comment to your post and right when it got locked. Thought that was a good flag emoji compromise but led to even better things.
Z_Poster adds a lot to the discourse of the site IMO and I've found myself siding with their takes more often than not in a controversy, I was bummed when I saw they were banned and why. Using the reason of ban evasion alts seems to me like a smokescreen because what were they banned for in the first place? I haven't seen any bigotry from them but maybe I don't really spend as much time on the site as I thought. Maybe they're abrasive and they should chill out but I can't really blame them considering how they're being treated. The crackerdom is palpable tbh, this is a chance to reverse that.
EDIT: Also they said they're Arab and the other users circling around them I'm pretty sure are white, and the context here is the Israeli genocide on Palestine. Come on now.
I have to put my own name up as someone who argued about the SMO with them last year and came around to see things a similar way.
"A pile of rubbish will be heaped on my grave which the winds of history will sweep away without mercy."
Truly the most powerfull poster.
Apparently they're so good at posting that their alts write with completely different voices and personalities! Truly a superhuman poster.
Didn't even know they got banned, what was the post that did it?
There wasn’t one post, it was a mod getting pissy imo
These were Z’s last posts
The mods have acted like even wanting, much less demanding, an apology for any action of theirs is "wrecker behavior" literally since the site started which is wack because 1) they act like they're liable for the Death Penalty or something, like the Court of Public Opinion is a real thing they are subject to, like who tf cares if someone thinks they're power tripping or whatever, their opinion isn't gonna steal the site from them or anything lol that's not how shit works, but they act like it's some sort of threat to their authority??? and 2) it's ironically more "wrecker behavior" than half the actual wrecker shit coming in here. Like I don't think the slow crawl from "literally having a feedback and ban appeal comm" to "nobody gets unbanned unless they're (critically) beloved and others with influence on the site publicly ask for it in a thread about a stupid struggle session" has been GOOD trajectory for the site
Like if i weren't a broke shithead i'd put money on that "i want an apology" comment being what set off whoever did the ban
Edit: also super ironic given they tried to make people subject themselves to public digital pillory "posting in self crit" to beg an unban
I think it was the struggle sessions about having the real flag vs the alternative flag we have now. Like, two weeks ago, maybe? Not sure on the timeline.
They didn't get banned there, that was @FreeRangeKitties@hexbear.net who was actually antisemitic. I don't think it was a Zposter alt because that account set its pronouns to [comrade/them, she/her] and generally sounded more like a 4chan nihilist in tone.
Accusing people you don't like of being a ZPoster alt is the new accusing people you don't like of being a Melina alt.
From the little I remember about that whole thing with FreeRangeKitties, their grammar and way they type was totally different from Z. I do think that they had to have been a long time user with an alt, though
Oh woops, my bad, carry on, y'all, disregard what I said
