I do wonder how people in the west will react when their nations do actually start a war with China. The way they act it is obvious they think it'll be like a colonial war from the 1800s where soldiers will just charge in and "shoot the savages"
So I wonder how they will react to seeing news of Chinese ships sinking the US fleet, China has actively built their navy to counter the US, so any actual battles will almost certainly result in a Chinese victory. Will they just insist that because half a dozen Chinese whitewater craft were sunk, it means that the US won the battle even though they lost 3-4 aircraft carriers in the process? Will the US just stay out of range of Chinese ships and fire the occasional potshot, which the western media apparatus will claim was a "devastating blow" to the Chinese? Will they just ignore reality entirely and make up a fictional narrative about China being "on the ropes" even as the US military completely collapses? It's one thing to have that sort of attitude towards a war in Ukraine, where it is far away enough for them to never notice any material consequences of the conflict, but the US going directly to war with China will make it too hard to hide losses from the public, even during the Iraq war, the media apparatus failed to properly keep a lid on everything that was going on, and this war will be orders of magnitude bigger. I do wonder if these people will simply declare reality itself to be Chinese propaganda, even when faced with it directly.
I read somewhere that a potential showdown between the US and China in the Pacific would be reminiscent of the Pacific theatre in WW2 with China ironically taking the role of the US (less well established and experienced navy, but with gargantuan industrial and ship building capacity)
Same as they do for darling Ukkkraine: lie, gaslight, distract, gloat.
It didn’t happen, and if it did it wasn’t that bad, and if it was shut up sissypee bot, we’ve killed 4000 Chinese toddlers and China can’t even top 100 of ours, we’ve basically already won
There is just no way the US can lose 4 carriers and not use a nuke in response, maybe they'll target something in the Chinese western desert areas, let them know in advance, so the US can save face and China can choose to avoid total annihilation. Losing 1 carrier is something I can see the US accepting depending on the Chinese relative cost, chalk it up to US navy incompetence, I used to think Americans would lose their minds even losing just 1 but these days after Trump's shit I'm not even sure patriotism is as high as it used to be.
Beyond that it gets wildly unrealistic and honestly unhealthy to fantasize. Like how China will only lose half a dozen ships, it implies a level of military superiority that doesn't match reality.
Likewise China got only 2 carriers, maybe 1 more by war time, the US can "easily" do a hail mary to destroy both of them if they have to and call it even. If that happens then China can win the war(easily) still but the propaganda war will continue just fine.
Of course China is still a very large favorite to win, with numerous advantages, but what is the point of fantasy scenarios like this?
It's not a military analysis, it's hyperbole to question how libs would react during a war and would most likely insist that the US is seconds away from marching into Beijing even if, in reality, China had occupied half of the US and was days away from occupying Washington. It isn't an attempt at military analysis, it's an attempt at analysing how liberals will react and whether they will notice how absurd their propaganda is, based on how they've acted during the war in Ukraine.
