I had a boss who would say “spit it out” like I was trying to choose my words carefully rather than trying to snatch the words as they fled, made it so frustrating to talk to him

My ex stepdad did that shit. And both him and mom would call me a "lump" if I wasn't active enough for them. Ones dead and the other is dead to me.
