Her husband, Gus Wagner, was also a tattoo artist and taught her. Together, they traveled around the US in circuses and sideshows. She started out as an aerialist in the same circus and traded a date with him for a tattoo lesson.
It doesn't say explicitly, but I bet he did a lot of the harder areas.
I'm sure he helped out a bit with the softer areas, too.
