hahaha, as a non-American, I have no idea what the red herring you fell for even was. Even knowing what it's apparently about, I can't see which words would go in it.

Gloves (multiple??) and ball are baseball, I guess? Not sure what else.I'm not an American either
I went ball-gloves-jackets and guessed that either "blocks" or "foils" could be some jargon I wasn't familiar with. I originally saw "stops" as in "short stop", but I needed that for green.
