It's also a strategic energy interest for Russia too. I know their hands are full, but these proxy wars are being waged to weaken Russia, China and the entire resistance to US hegemony. The next front the Fourth Reich opens will be even more dangerous if Iran is militarily, economically or diplomatically neutralized.
