Since 2016, Democrats have operationally withdrawn from rural America. No party can win nationally without rural voters, and progressive economics have plenty to offer, if only the party would embrace them.

You clearly have no understanding of what centrist means.

Just because you have to suddenly pretend that they're not the most emblematic members of your wing of the party, that doesn't mean you have to gaslight.

Neither of them represent the middle of the country.

They represent the right flank of the democratic party. They're centrists.

It isn't gaslighting to point out that you're using a word wrong.

The right flank of the Democratic party is just right wing. Not central. Their policy stances are not middle of the road, they're self enriching and aligned withbig pharma and a coal industries

So why do we let them run the party?

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They don't. But being the squeaky wheel in one party in a two party system where the other party is hellbent on blocking anything their opposition wants, regardless of what it is, gives you a lot of leverage.

If they don't, did Build Back Better just kill itself, one piece at a time, over the course of months?

I'm not sure how to dumb this down any more for you ...

Condescension: from people who like the status quo but can't defend it.

Just someone who understands what words mean.

Well, when manchin singlehandedly did what you wanted and killed Build Back Better for you, he was running the party.

You love it but can't admit it, so you get condescending instead. Enjoy watching the poor people you hate suffer.

You really seem to struggle with reading comprehension. You have pulled an entirely fabricated assumption of my stance out of your ass.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Manchin dictated policy. He was the de facto head of the party.

You are not smart enough to continue having this conversation. Good bye

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

You got everything you wanted from the manchin presidency.
