Maybe not, some immature kids think anything with X in it looks cool. Just look at Musk renaming twitter.

It used to be "the thing" in early 2000's or around there.

Sudden flashback to Pepsi X as well.

They're definitely not there just he taught the simpler form was taken. Simplicity and minimal design is not what was in vogue in the noughties.
