Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Stage 4 cancer with metastasis? Not gonna make it. No amount of money or power can stop a dead man walking.

But it does make ya wonder why he wanted to run for a second term. He probably won't make it to the end of the current administration.

He won't live long enough to see the major impact of slow rolling Trump's arrest.

I wish cancer got the other guy, but I feel no sympathy for an old racist who betrayed various words and didn't fight back against the fascist hard enough.

He’s 82, he’s not going to “make it” regardless

if you're going with "regardless", might as well add that none of us will "make it'. spoiler alert, we all die at the end.

you're joking, but there are people like Peter Thiel who throw money into transhumanist nonsense specifically because he thinks he'll live forever thanks to that. cryonics, buckets of supplements, "enhanced games" as a non-FDA testing ground for immortality elixir for new emperor, and a couple of other things that i don't remember right now, all because he's so scared of dying

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

We don't know that. It's statistically likely, but it's possible that due to advances in technology, the first person to cure aging is already alive today.

[–] chronicledmonocle@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

We've also been talking about curing it for years and it hasn't happened, so maybe live your life like you're dying and be pleasantly surprised if we cure it.

But it does make ya wonder why he wanted to run for a second term.

Look at the average age of congress. Look at what Dianne Feinstein was doing at the end of her life. They don't want power. It's all automatic to them at this point. They don't know now to do anything else then grab and hold as much power as possible without any reason or purpose.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

If he won a second term and died then somebody other than Vance and Musk would be running the show, at least.

Even while dying he's stilling participating in fundraising for the DNC.

He will be missed.

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 22 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Yeah it seems fundraising is more important to the DNC than improving the country. But then again the people who pay big money to politics aren't happy with a better country. That would mean less wealth for them and more dignity fir everyone else.

It is interesting that the medical examination before and during his presidency should have included cancer examination? I thought it is common practice to do a test every 2 years or so..

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

But it does make ya wonder why he wanted to run for a second term.

That's no mystery. If there were primaries, someone to his left might win them.

[–] Clbull@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

But it does make ya wonder why he wanted to run for a second term. He probably won’t make it to the end of the current administration.

There are already conspiracy theories going around that he kept his medical issues (dementia, cancer, etc) a closely guarded secret whilst running for re-election.

As for why I think Biden wanted to run for a second term, my guess is that his plan was to stand down and effectively proxy the United States' first female leader in that way. Harris would have otherwise been eviscerated in the primaries.

He won’t live long enough to see the major impact of slow rolling Trump’s arrest.

Dude, with the way Trump is handling things, the 2026 midterms and 2028 presidential elections are going to be about as Fair and Balanced™ as a Fox News broadcast.
