After the initial protests, committee Chair Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.), who released the legislation on Sunday evening—Mother’s Day—threatened the protesters with arrest for disrupting the hearing, calling the outcry illegal and “a criminal offense.”

I don't understand Republicans, man, and to be honest, I don't want to. I'm just straight up not gonna meet this in the middle.

I don't think I suggested that there was. The perspective I described is absolutist. Either they see you as family, or they don't register you as human.
