Nah man, read the article. He's not regretting his face being eaten, he's saying that they'll regret it if leftists get back into power and do the same things back to them. He's as big a dumb cunt as the rest of them.

“That’s a mistake — one that conservatives could come to regret,” he wrote bluntly. “Whether or not Mr. Trump ultimately succeeds, his attempt to weaponize the tax code sets a troubling and dangerous precedent."
If an administration can threaten liberal institutions today, he argued, “what would stop a leftist administration from targeting churches and synagogues tomorrow?”

He's on the right track though. "Because I wouldn't want it turned against me" is the reason we collectively decide to limit powers in the first place. No one wants to be persecuted therefore government shouldn't have the power to do so.

This has been my biggest argument with right family members. They love it right now, but imagine Dems regain power over these generally unpopular policies; the very things they love this time around would be hated then. They attempted a coup for much less than this.

When were leftists ever in power?

"Leftists" then. His word, not mine.

“what would stop a leftist administration from targeting churches and synagogues tomorrow?”

That wouldn't be a very leftist thing to do. That hypothetical administration would ironically be a different flavor of right wing, but whatever. Words don't mean anything to these people.
